Our intrepid route meister, Ian Dixon, was out and about
surveying the route last Sunday. In fact he cycled round the 100k course but
started and finished in Longtown, totaling 155k on the day. He has obviously
benefitted from the high altitude training in the Spanish mountains last month.
The Scott Self Storage riders, Stephen, Ian and Luke will undertake the 100k
route on July 23rd.
We have organised a feed station at the Wheatsheaf Inn in
Abbey Town for the 100k route. You will pass this on both on the outward and
return trips. The landlords, Val and Mike are putting on a special cyclists
lunch at a special rate. There will also be a gazebo in the garden with water,
bananas and flapjack.
There is also a feed station situated in a lay by east of
Bowness on Solway (water, bananas, and flapjack), toilet facilities, provided by
Leets Loos are avalable here. Finally, similar arrangements are available at
Moorhouse in the garden of the Royal Oak, where mine hosts Charlotte and Nick
Sowerby will be pleased to welcome you.
For your information the flapjacks are very generously
donated by the Dalston Bakery.
